Bio
I grew up in Eastern Virginia before migrating to the Roanoke Valley after I graduated from high school. I come from a railroad family and thought I was destined to go into the family business but later changed my mind. After a attending a series of colleges (probably a record somewhere), I finally settled at Carson-Newman College in East Tennessee, majored in religious studies and spent the next few years trying to figure out what I was supposed to do with my life. Although becoming a Spy or a Secret Service Agent were briefly considered, I decided helping people fit me best. I worked in many levels and roles in human services before becoming a psychotherapist. Along the way I earned a MS in Human Services and a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy. I have seen people at their best and their worst and gained a monumental amount of appreciation for my greatest teachers- my clients.
Most important of all, I have been married to my wonderful wife for 22 years, who works in community banking and we have two amazing kids, a 20-year-old Architecture Design college student daughter and a 10-year-old theatre kid son. They keep me in check- always!
